Artist's Comments

I love Vortiguants.

The character is from Half-Life. It was one of those projects you can't stop working on til your satisfied. Then you still think it's missing something. XD

Thanks to Heather Dunning for the advice and inspiration on painting scales and claws. [link]

OMG Half-Life fanart! Awesome piece! I love all the details you put in the skin...and the melancholy feel of it as a whole, especially including the sketch in the background :+fav:!!

I know what you feel is missing!! Torn human flesh on its claws.

Fantastic textures... well, details at all actually. Really great!

Thanks Penny! I plan to work on some more HL-fanart (if I ever have time), glad to know someone here digs the series!

Man, Half Life is awesome, and it's great to see a piece of well done fanart come from it. The way you color is so precise and clean, your redering skills are top notch I have to say. Often times, I prefer simple shading and such, but you manage to make a very great looking piece with fine detail, which doesn't look overworked.

My favorite is the little sketch in the background, adds a really nice, gloomy touch. Good stuff!

Sweet! Thanks man, I appreciate the compliment. It's funny 'cause I drew the little sketch with actual crayons then scanned it in. XD

Ah~ this is absolutelly wonderfull, the details (like the chair seat and the tape on the sketch) really make it come alive and you get a sense (sp?) of gloom and loneliness, I have never played/watched Half Life but he/she/it really needs a friend..

Thanks Moliv! I loved drawing this guy, and I'm very pleased that the emotion that was suppose to be portrayed stayed intact.
